Blinking his bright eyes open, Ryestorm woke from his deep slumber. There were still cats sleeping around him, an assortment of colors and sizes. Standing up slowly to not disturb any, he quickly yawned and slunk away from the others to a shaded area. Despite being awake for a few moments, the heat already bared down on him. His coat was thin yet the heat still left him uncomfortable and thirsty. The tom frowned. The river was gone, a rivulet left in its place. His clan suffered and all he could do was hope for better days. Hope. A word that had little to no meaning to him. Dueling with his thoughts, the tom began to clean his paws, waiting for duties or others to wake.

Pikethroat emerged from the front entrance of camp, a scrawny, golden perch in his jaws. He was pleased he found such a thing, considering the drought. A purr rumbled in his throat as he padded through the reeds and smelled the small morning patrol's scent still clinging to the stalks. As his paws touched the soft sand of the clearing and he looked around, he was very surprised to see most everyone still asleep. I suppose the warm weather has made everyone groggy. Pikethroat thought to himself as he peered around for a shady place to eat his breakfast. He chirped and his nub of a tail perked up as he spotted Ryestorm's tabby and white pelt off to the side of camp, and in the shade no less! He changed his course and ade his way over. "Goo' mormin', Ryest'rm." He mumbled around the fish in his jaws before setting it down. "Would you like to share some breakfast?"

Ryestorm glanced up, hearing his name. He gave the warrior a small smile. "Morning, Pikethroat." He mewed, eyeing the fish on the ground. His mouth watered at the thought of food, yet he would feel bad if he took some. It was Pikethroat's catch after all. Giving a polite smile, he shook his head. "Thank you for the offer, but I'm alright." The warrior replied reluctantly. He would just go hunting later and hope to catch something. For now, he would just enjoy Pikethroat's company. "So," He mumbled between licks, "How long have you been awake?"

Pikethroat flicked his ears. "If you're certain. I would feel bad eating the whole thing, though, as hungry as everyone seems to be from the drought." The tabby tucked his feet under himself and took a bite of the fish. It wasn't the best, but it was better than a furry or vole. "I got up just before Horoa, thinking maybe with less heat, the fish wouldn't be so deep in what little of the river is left." Pikethroat didn't actually see many fish- no fish, actually, except the little perch- and he was out by the pool for quite a while this morning. He supposed he should go back out later in the day to catch something more, but the heat was smothering and he wasn't much looking forward to it.

Nodding in agreement, Ryestorm sighed. He would've gone out if he had woken earlier, but sleep took him over. He hadn't slept well for some days, and the effect of that was taking a toll on his body. "Well I'm no seer, but the fact you found anything at all must be a good sign." He purred. At least, he hoped it was. The tom glanced at Horoa's eye, willing the god to have mercy on the clan. When nothing happened, a pang of anger coursed through his veins. It wasn't fair. Shaking his head to drive away the thoughts, he looked at Pikethroat. "I hope others wake up soon. The clan is too quiet."

Kestrelstar's ears twitched at the sound of voices. He had listened to Wigeonpath take out a patrol, but now that she was gone he ought to get up himself; he'd had trouble sleeping and instead spent ages staring into the dry grass and contemplating how to get his Clan out of trouble. He had a plan, but he wasn't sure how well it would be accepted. The leader got to his paws and stretched for a moment, his short tail sticking straight up, then trotted over to Ryestorm and Pikethroat. "Good catch," he remarked. "Would the pair of you like to come with me to check for toads in the dry banks later? We all prefer fish, but right now, food is food," he said. While Pikethroat and Ryestorm weren't his best hunters, they both had good eyes and would be able to spot the holes from the burrowed toads. "We can take along Gingerpaw," the tortoiseshell added to Pikethroat. "Has he toad-hunted before?"loveymymavi , snootsandwhiskers ,

Lightningpaw perched on a high branch in one of the trees. He'd climbed up there before Horoa's eye has risen above the horizon, looking to the sky for any sign of rain. But the few clouds that had passed were tiny and white. He allowed his gaze to drift towards Sunningrocks. He wasn't mad at ThunderClan. Far from it - he pitied them. Because they had taken them from RiverClan, StarClan took their Seer away. To have a Clan without a Seer was almost unthinkable.

"I sure hope so." Pikethroat agreed before resuming his meal. The drought was putting a lot of unnecessary stress on all the Clans, but without the river the tom feared RiverClan may starve. He worried especially for his mother, one of the oldest members of the Clan. The tabby sat up and pushed his meal away, wondering suddenly if he should take it to the elder queen. Before he could do a thing, he heard the sound of pawsteps and looked up to see Kestrelstar approaching. He purred at the praise he was given before responding. "Of course, I would love to go on hunting patrol with you. I had planned to go back out later myself." Pikethroat replied. He honestly had forgotten about taking Gingerpaw to do anything, as he had only been recently appointed mentor to the young tom. "We haven't been able to do much hunting by the river at all lately, perhaps taking him would be a good idea." Pikethroat had been more concerned about showing the young apprentice boundaries and how to catch things that were currently available rather than search for fish and frogs that may or may not be hanging around. loveymymavi, Sherlock,

"We'll go by the WindClan border as well, and look for some ground prey," Kestrelstar added, aware of the slim chances of them finding any toads. It wasn't as if they were likely to have much luck with mammals, but it didn't hurt to try for more than one type of prey. "I doubt the dogeyes would have crossed the bank, but it's dry right now and everyone is short on prey. Best to check," he said. He did, however, want to wait until Wigeonpath returned with her group before leaving; there was something he wanted to discuss with her that could change his plans. loveymymavi, snootsandwhiskers,

From within the shade of the apprentice's den, Gingerpaw's ears twitched as he heard his name spoken by Kestralstar and his mentor. He lifted his head from his paws, fully alert as he stared out from the den's opening, and after a moment, he stood with a light shake of his fluffy pelt and began to make his way out of the den. Putting on an excited face, the young tom bounded over to his mentor's side and plopped down, sitting right beside the other two cats. "I heard we're going out," he happily chirped with a grin on his face, ears pricked and eyes shining. Even in this drought, and as hot and thirsty as he was- like the rest of them- he still managed to act as if everything was just fine. snootsandwhiskers, Sherlock

Ryestorm's ears twitched at the sound of the leader's voice. Hunting toads? He thought. It didn't sound that fun, but he shrugged and nodded anyway, wanting to help. He sat back and listened to Kestrelstar and Pikethroat talk. As they spoke of the apprentice, Ryestorm thought of his younger self. He hadn't been as enthusiastic as some, but he was still excited when he got his first mentor. His mentor was young, barely a warrior herself. Maybe that's why she taught him all the wrong things. His thoughts were interrupted when Gingerpaw bounded over to them. Ryestorm couldn't help but smile at the younger feline's optimism. Looking up at the leader, he gave a polite nod. "I'm ready when you are."

Campioncloud had only just awoken. Unlike the others she always woke later. She'd rest until Horoa's eager eye landed on her and if it rained then she wouldn't get up at all. Of course she always made up for that.
That being said, a ray of heavy late poured on her head and she willed her eyes open. The heat wasn't very sparing, she could already feel the sun warming up her pelt. I presume it's time. She yawned, stepping up from her spot in the warriors den and stretching out. She began to address to the flecks of moss in her fur.
Once she was decent enough to head out, she stepped into the clearing and nodded to those who made eye contact. "Good morning to all." She purred smoothly. "Maybe the morning isn't too good but I can say that it's a blessing to still be alive under Rokhar's pelt." loveymymavi, snootsandwhiskers,Sherlock, ariento,β₯ ππΈπ¬π±πͺ β₯,

Awoken by the noise of the rest of RiverClan's warriors' activity around the camp, Shrikecloud blinked open her bright hazel eyes, blinking to clear her vision from sleep. Her ears swiveled around, taking in the voices of her Clanmates, and she soon stood, stretching herself out before beginning to exit the warriors' den. She was quite old for a warrior, having served the Clan for 10 cycles of seasons, and it was beginning to show on the old queen. The dark gray patch atop her head had receded, replaced by white fur, her fur had lost the fluff of youth, and her skin pulled over her bones, which had began to weaken. Despite this, she had yet to retire- while she should have been an elder by now, she remained determined to serve her Clan until she no longer physically could, and especially in these conditions, the Clan needed as much help as they could get. Breathing in the hot, humid air, the elderly she-cat began to make her way towards the gathering patrol of three warriors and a bouncy little ginger apprentice. "Good morning," she greeted with a purr as she reached the patrol, sitting down and curling her tail over her paws with a gentle smile. "How is everyone today? A patrol's in the works, I take it?" snootsandwhiskers, Sherlock, alchepalch, loveymymavi

Pikethroat nodded in agreement as his leader spoke. Checking the WindClan border for ground prey was a good idea, though not necessarily one he was fond of. Before he could speak, however, a ginger streak caught his eye and he turned to see his apprentice. The young tom was very awake this morning and seemed eager to go, something the older warrior envied. "Kestrelstar wants to try and catch some toads, if we can find any." He purred, filling Gingerpaw in to the information. His ears twitched as he heard rustling further cross the clearing. "We may also search for some ground prey if we need to, so you can practice your hunting crouch." As he spoke, he heard Campioncloud emerging from her nest and saw Shrikecloud approaching the small group. "Good morning, mother." Pikethroat chirped, in greeting eyes half lidded with happiness at her presence. "I was just about to go wake you and offer the rest of my perch." He nudged the half-eaten fish towards the pied molly with a paw. "I caught it before Horoa's eye was on the horizon, though we're planning a hunting patrol now as well."

Kestrelstar nodded to Gingerpaw, Campioncloud, and then Shrikecloud as each approached, but decided to allow Pikethroat to answer their inquiries and talk to his apprentice and mother. He was still thinking about what he wanted to discuss with Wigeonpath; he might be able to slip away from the patrol and move toward Sunningrocks, since the group would end up pretty spread out regardless. "We're going out to the WindClan border," he added to Campioncloud, since she had been a bit too far off to hear. "Would you care to join us?"
